A tribute to France – Part 1

So this week, I decided to play songs about France, or from shows set in France. It was a really fun list to put together!

April in Paris – Walk a Little Faster

Comes Once in a Lifetime – Subways are for Sleeping

I featured Judy Garland for my first two songs, because she is wonderful!

Paris by Night – Victor/Victoria

I’ve never seen this show, but this is a perfect song for this theme.

Bring Him Home – Les Miserables

Past the Point of No Return – Phantom of the Opera

I had to include these two, because they are two of my favourite shows, and they are just so French.

I Love Paris – Can-Can

C’est Magnifique – Can-Can

I also haven’t seen Can-Can, so I didn’t realize how many songs from it that I knew. I was spoiled for choice with this one.

The Best of All Possible Worlds – Candide

Madeleine – Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris

I associate both of these songs very strongly with some of my past trips to France. I read Candide while I was there, and I was introduced to the music of Jacques Brel. I don’t know the show, but I adore this song.

Love Changes Everything – Aspects of Love

This was the recessional at my wedding, so I include it whenever possible. Part of the show takes place in France. This music video is absurd and I love it.

Into the Fire – Scarlet Pimpernel

Move On – Sunday in the Park with George

Scarlet Pimpernel is quintessentially French, and so is the artwork of Georges Seurat. This seemed like the best way to close out the playlist.
